Our Turn to Take up the Torch

The painting suggests a valued ancestral torch has been passed down through eons of time to emerge into our changing world. Its flickering flame speaks of its long veiled lineage of ancient wisdom. 

It's our turn now to take up the torch. It's time to hold the light so we can see our best way forward. Pass it on.

I began this oil painting nearly 20 years ago and forgot that I'd put it away unfinished when I moved house. It's unusual for me to leave a painting unfinished and to store it away out of sight, but I rediscovered it recently and could clearly see what was needed to complete it. Because I now paint in acrylic, I had to hunt out my old oil paints to midwife the painting from the past into the present. Its time has come. 

The painting is 305mm x 915mm x 37mm. It is UV protect with a matt varnish so is easy to clean and ready to hang.
