Our Turn to Take up the Torch

The painting suggests a valued ancestral torch has been passed down through eons of time to emerge into our our troubled world. Its flickering flame speaks of its long-held lineage and ancient wisdom. 

It's our turn now to take up the torch. It's time to hold the light so we can see our best way forward.

I began this oil painting years ago, and forgot that I'd put it away unfinished when I moved house. It's unusual for me to leave a painting unfinished and to store it away out of sight, but I rediscovered it recently and could clearly see the layers and tweaking needed to complete it. Because I now paint in acrylic, I had to hunt out my old oil paints to midwife the painting from the past into the present. Its time has come. The flame shines on. 

The painting is 305mm x 915mm x 37mm. It is UV protect with a matt varnish so is easy to clean and ready to hang.
