The Call of the Conch

A huge old triton/conch shell was loaned to me by a friend, with a nudge that it may inspire a painting. It did.

But the result is a different vibe from what I expected. Instead of a robust rendition on the outsized canvas, the painting is powerful but surprisingly subtle.

And the focus is on what it's broadcasting - sound, memory, and information released from its time-honoured crystalline shell.

The painting is big - 1010mm wide x 760mm high x 35mm deep.

It's acrylic, has painted edges, a matt varnish for easy clean and UV protection, so is ready to hang.
