Flax (harakeke) flowers burst upwards on long spear-stalks in spring then the pods ripen to split and release their seed in autumn.

The seedpod is a distinctive three chamber vessel and this painting is inspired by that form.

The stylized dispersal of seed reminds us of nature's generosity.

It reminds us of the value of letting go and releasing our offerings into the world.

This canvas was given to me by a local teen to re-use and paint over, so some of the underlying texture is inherited from her.

The work is 355 mm wide x 455 mm high by 35 mm deep, is painted in acrylic and is ready to hang.
